vlab gives you a CSE lab desktop session on non-CSE computers, including UNSW library computers, your own laptop or desktop, and mobile phones and tablets.

What software you need on your computer

There are many VNC clients available, most of them don't cost anything. To find a client suitable for your computer:

We mostly use the TigerVNC viewer when testing (see link in “Key points” at the top of this page). It works on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.

We have tested MochaVNC and Jump on iPad and iPhone.

Note that for all of this software, you only need the viewer. Some VNC software packages include a VNC server as well as the VNC viewer. You don't need the VNC server and your life will be simpler installing VNC without it.

Java VNC viewers should also work.

Apple's Screen Sharing application in Mac OS X does not work.
