Tuomas Sandholm
Tuomas Sandholm is Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in the Computer Science Department. His poker program Libratus recently beat some of the best poker pros at Texas No Limit Hold'Em. He is the Founder and Director of the Electronic Marketplaces Laboratory. He was Founder, Chairman, and CTO/Chief Scientist of CombineNet, Inc. from 1997 until its acquisition in 2010. His algorithms run the UNOS kidney exchange, which includes 66% of the transplant centers in the US. He is Founder and CEO of Optimized Markets, Inc., that is bringing a new paradigm to advertising campaign sales and scheduling—in linear TV, digital TV, Internet display, mobile, game, radio, and cross-media advertising. He also served as the redesign consultant of Baidu’s sponsored search auctions and display advertising markets. He has served as consultant, advisor, or board member for Yahoo!, Google, Chicago Board Options Exchange, swap.com, Granata Decision Systems, and others.
Devi Parikh
Devi Parikh is an Assistant Professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech, and a Visiting Researcher at Facebook AI Research (FAIR). She has previously held positions at Virginia Tech and the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTIC), as well as visiting positions at Cornell University, University of Texas at Austin, Microsoft Research, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests include computer vision and AI in general and visual recognition problems in particular. Her recent work involves exploring problems at the intersection of vision and language, and leveraging human-machine collaboration for building smarter machines. She is winner of several awards including the 2017 IJCAI Computers and Thought award.
Toby Walsh
Toby Walsh is Scientia Professor of Artificial Intelligence at UNSW and at Data61, Australia's Centre of Excellence for ICT Research. He was named by the Australian newspaper as one of the hundred rock stars of Australia's digital revolution. He has been elected a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.
He regularly appears on TV and radio shows talking about the impact of AI and robotics. He also writes frequently for print and online media such as the New Scientist, American Scientist, and Cosmos. His book, It's Alive!: Artificial Intelligence from the Logic Piano to Killer Robots was published in 2017 by Black Inc. His Twitter account @TobyWalsh has been voted one of the top ten to follow to keep abreast of developments in AI.
