Under contract from Enterprise Oil, the Turing Institute built an expert system (1987 - 1988) to aid geologists in appraising prospective sites for oil and gas wells. I was the project leader during the prototyping phase. The Turing Institute won the contract to complete the production system, which was in use for several years.
The prototype consisted of two modules, a case-based reasoning tool and a mock-up of the eventual user interface.
