Revision of COMP3121/9101

Raveen de Silva attended the Course Design Institute last week to overhaul COMP3121/9101 from 24T1. He and Jiaojiao will be working on these changes this term, along with Frank Jia who will help design tutorial activities using his experience as a tutor in this course and COMP2521. If anyone would like to contribute, e.g. to help us better understand:

• the knowledge base of students completing COMP2521/9024/9020
• the Masters cohort generally, or
• the knowledge and skills needed to progress from Algorithms to more advanced courses
  • including discussion of whether prereqs should be changed from Algorithms to Extended Algorithms, which has more focus on intractability and preparation for research please get in touch with Raveen and Jiaojiao (and Abdallah where it pertains to Extended Algorithms).

The enrolment sequence for 3778 COMPA1 recommends doing Algorithms in third year. Should we bring this forward by swapping it with a second year elective? It would prepare students for technical interviews in order to obtain internships, and mitigate the common lack of retention of knowledge from COMP2521 and MATH1081 in first year.

There is also no enrolment sequence for 8543 (Masters of IT) - should one be added?
