    John Shepherd will report on any interesting/relevant devlopments that have occurred in committees, work-groups, etc. at UNSW.


  4. New Course: Cryptocurrency and Distributed Ledger Technology

    Ron van der Meyden has proposed a new course in Cryptocurrency and Distributed Ledger Technology. There is high demand for courses in this area.

    From the proposal:

    This course is intended to give a technical introduction to cryptocurrency and the blockchain and distributed ledger technologies that underpin the current generation of cryptocurrencies. These distributed ledger technologies are being applied to a range of applications that extend beyond cryptocurrency, including digital asset management, digital certification, financial instruments, securities management, international trade, insurance markets and provenance.

    This course is targeted to computer science students, and intended to provide sufficient technical background to commence work on projects in this area.

  5. New Programs: GradCert/GradDip/Masters in Cyber Security

    Richard Buckland is proposing an articulated suite of postgraduate coursework programs. There is high demand for qualifications in this area.

    DRAFT Proposal Details:

    7145 Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security:   AIMS
    5145 Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security:   AIMS
    8645 Masters in Cyber Security:   AIMS


  6. Revised Programs: GradCert/GradDip/Masters in Information Technology

    John Shepherd is proposing some changes to the details of our postgraduate coursework programs.

    • refine the entry requirements for Masters and Grad Dip, to streamline admissions
    • reduce the Grad Dip from 72 UOC to 48 UOC, to be consistent with other Engineering Grad Dips(?)
    • strengthen Grad Dip requirements to improve articulation to Masters

    Everyone should be thinking and planning how they're going to offer courses under UNSW3+
