Database Objects (cont)
In PostgreSQL, the system catalog is available to users via:
- special commands in the
psql shell (e.g. \d)
- SQL standard
information_schema
(e.g. select * from information_schema.tables;)
The low-level representation is available to sysadmins via:
- a global schema called
pg_catalog
- a set of tables/views in that schema (e.g.
pg_tables)
