Re: Harrison Seabird guide

I have the hard cover Seabirds (Harrison) and Shorebirds (Hayman, et al).
 Both are excellent references, and I do take Harrison on our pelagics.  I
obtained them quite cheaply from our RAOU WA Group several years ago.  You
could check with Birds Australia and BOCA in Melbourne to see if they have
them cheaper.

However, the most accurate and descriptive reference is undoubtedly HANZAB.
 If you compare it with Harrison you would almost think you were looking at
different species.  Especially the comic terns.  The only hassle with HANZAB
(apart from the cost and weight!) is that the illustrations are widely
separated from the text, so you don't want to be in a hurry.  You also need
to read the text carefully.

Harrison is much better than Simpson&Day and Slater if they are your
alternatives.

I have seen the photographic version of Harrison, but I would wait for the
next edition.
