Another option for keeping the batteries/gear warm is air-activated
hand warmers- especially useful if you have to leave your gear
unattended. I used to keep a hand warmer in my mixer case next to the
batteries when recording snowmobile races in northern Wisconsin. I
know it ain't the arctic, but it was cold, and the warmers helped.
