She appeared on a radio p[rogram I engineered in the 90s, and read
and excerpt from "One of Terry's most well known books, REFUGE,
describes the rising level of the Great Salt Lake and the destruction
of bird habitat as a backdrop to coping with her mother's decline
from breast cancer." that moved us all to tears, about a dead bird
(albatross?) in the desert. I went to see if I could find the text
online, and found this testimony from 1995 instead. It is so
inspiring - we need to get poets to speak up for the land more often!
