<<Remember, this is naturerecordists, we record out well away from any
direct sources of strong emf >>
Just the fact that we now have cell phone reception in many
supposedly pristine environments leads me to fear there are few
places on earth left which are free from the intrusion of RF.
Nevertheless, it's not the mere presence of RF which constitutes
interference problems for audio recording, but the combination of a
number of coordinated chance elements in the gear itself. Sometimes
just changing the length of cable involved will alter the antenna
characteristics of the system enough to eliminate radio intrusion.
Generally, high gain circuits (mic preamps) which utilize
transformers are less susceptible to RFI than transformerless
designs. Anyway, having eliminated them long ago based on urban
experiences, I haven't used StarQuad wired for stereo in wilderness
settings, but it has had problems in worst case RF situations.
