Hi All,
Trying to find a good shotgun on a budget.
Is it possible?
Looking at the Rode NTG 2.
Any other suggestions?
I was also thinking Technica AT 815a.

Mark,
If you are looking for something in the budget price range why not keep an
eye open for a Sennheiser MKH 816 or the earlier 815? These are no longer
manufactured and so are only available 'pre-loved' but are greatly
appreciated in the location recording business where a really sharp
directional mic is needed.
Being second hand they go for a fraction of their new price and appear on
E-bay from time to time. One snag is that most models are 12volt 'T' powere=
d
rather than phantom powered and so you would need to power it either from a
portable mixer with T powering or buy either a T powering box or, if you
have phantom power available, a phantom to T power adaptor (about 40 USD
from PSC).
