Lyman Miller taught us at the Nature Sounds Society to make
windscreen foundations out of "hardware cloth," that's the 1/4"
squares galvanized metal mesh.

For small windscreens, like for lavaliers, I got some plastic mesh
eggs from a craft supply store on the web (Annie's Attic) that look
pretty good (more closed than the metal mesh).
