I just went to a terrific presentation by Lang Eliot this weekend.
He talked extensively about a variety of nature sounds, which were
all extremely fascinating.
Lang mentioned an individual doing research on how to conduct night
migration surveys (species and quantity) useing known sounds (chip
notes, partial songs etc.) to determine the count and species.
I will have to check my notes, but is anyone familier with this work,
and the individual involved? How would I contact them?
*****
Also for the near future.
What if - I had a library of sounds that a computer referenced in
near real time. If I used some "fuzzy logic" on the SOUND anagrams
(is that what they are called?) to match species to species in the
database could I create a "bird counting machine"? Has anyone else
thought of this?
