Black-tailed Native-hen, Ewen Maddock Dam,SEQ

Falling water levels and the resultant expanses of exposed mud continue to 
attract unusual species to Ewen Maddock Dam, just north of Landsborough,SEQ. 
Following recent sightings of Painted Quail, Australian Little Bittern, 
Red-kneed Dotterel and Black-necked Stork, a solitary Black-tailed Native-hen 
was seen this morning, firstly by Greg Roberts in his kayak, then by myself, 
scoping from the mud edge in the SW corner.
   Other species not usually seen at this site included Sharp-tailed 
Sandpiper(10+), Black-fronted Dotterel, and up to 8 Red-kneed Dotterel. The 
flock of 40+ Whiskered Tern continue to be seen, alternately flying and loafing.
     Greg has a photo of the BTNH which he will post on his blog today.
