Hi All,
Was able to spare an hour or so this morning to check out Chinamans Creek, the
well known site SW of Katherine on the Victoria Highway.
There is still a bit much water around for the birds to be concentrated around
waterholes like Chinamans Creek, but there was still a few things around. The
highlight was a group of about 16 Hooded Parrots, mostly females and young
males, with 3 mature males. Other birds about included Northern Fantail,
Restless (Paperbark) and Leaden Flycatchers, Rufous-throated Honeyeaters,
Red-winged Parrot and a distant Cockatiel.
Not a lot of birds, but otherwise a very pleasant time on a beautiful dry
season morning.
Good birding!
Nick Leseberg
