Birdline Tasmania
Published sightings for the week ending 4 Apr 2010.
Wed 31 Mar Australasian Bittern Queechy Lake, Launceston Tasmania
At about 1.00pm as I walked a few metres from the car to the northern
margin of Queechy Lake, 1 bird flushed from reeds beside road,
immediately southwest of Barossa Rd bridge adjacent to water quality
warning sign. In a lumbering flight it flew about 50 metres and showing
strong yellow legs trailing, it ditched into dense reeds. After 1 hour
it had not shown again.
