The main pond is still dry, and now with a lush coating of grass in parts.
I've been quickly scanning it a couple of times daily as I pass, in the hope of
seeing a quail or something, but have seen nothing at all in there.
The puddles at the north platform, which were full again a week ago, are very
low again. I had good views of a Spotless Crake there around 6.30am last
Sunday morning, and of a Lewin's Rail around 8am this morning, the first for a
while, although I have only spent 5 or 10 minutes maximum waiting each time.
I've seen a Brown Goshawk several times this week, trying to flush birds out of
the trees around the pond, immature, judging by the width of the chest barring.
