Drove from our home in Finke to Mt Dare for lunch yesterday so a family trip
rather than birding. However about 60km south of Finke and still in the NT we
came across a pair of Gibberbirds. They were near a few small ephemeral puddles
on the road from recent showers but I imagine they are not water dependent. The
Atlas shows very few sightings for NT. On our return we went west from Mt Dare
to the Eringa Waterhole and then north past the Abminga ruins. Barely 2km
before we crossed the border back into Northern Territory we found 3 Inland
Dotterels. I was able to get a few distant pics but a severe dust storm was
approaching and most of the rest of the way home was crawling along in almost
nil visibility.
