Bowen is at the top of the Whitsundays so check this site out for info.

Some Whitsundays Islands are touristy and some islands have limited access 
or no access a good starting point would be the QNPWS Marine Park HQ at 
Airlie Beach but I have no contact details so may pay to google. Mangrove 
Golden Whistler is a bird of the area but I've lived here since 1984 and 
have still to see the bird.
