Hi Birders,Lorne may think that he had the first Koel for Sydney Region at Ashbury on 19/9/06 but in fact there were a few earlier birds, on 18/8/06 single males at Broadmeadow (Newcastle) & Yarramalong, and 21/8/06 at Gore Pk Greenwich. However none of these birds stayed around and may all of been the one early bird! It is not uncommon to have one early bird well ahead of the rest of the population. It remains to be seen whether the Ashbury bird stays around. Channel-bills are starting to spread across the Newcastle-Sydney-Wollongong area now.
