Hello bird lovers... Lorne here...
Hope all is smooth in your neck of the woods... or riverine rainforest or paperbark swamp, or sewage works...
On this thread of grasswrens... When up in Mt. Isa in July I tried for Kalkadoon at Mica Creek to no avail, but I did, thanks to Bob Forsyth's help by phone earlier, find them, at 1pm, in heat, at the end of Pamela St. (near the top of spinifex-covered hills) a three minute drive from the centre of town.
Bob reminded me that with the Kalka, and the Carpentarian (which I dipped on), that you've got to go to a place where there's any suitable habitat for the species, not just THE publicised spot in Thomas & Thomas etc. Wise words.
Yet saying that, I sat pretty much near the spot out of Boulia where Walter Boles saw the night parrot in the 90s... hoping in vain...

PS - Very much looking forward to reading all of Sean Dooley's book. Very funny and engrossing, from exerpts I've read thus far.
