Hi Birders,
I looked up the Cuckoo web page and it is very informative, however it is a
bit out of date. For all those Sydney Siders, Novocastrians and
Wollongong-ites, you would be interested to know that neither the Red
Wattlebird or the Little Wattlebird is listed as a host for the Koel Cuckoo!
While the Little Wattlebird was not confirmed as a host until the mid to
late 1990s, the Red Wattlebird has been a known host for some time, and now
days is the major host from the Mid-north Coast to the South Coast of NSW.
There are plenty of published and anecdotal descriptions of Koels being
hosted by wattlebirds.
