Tim your frustration wasn't as great as mine. I was listening to the ABC and
they had all sorts of problems working it out. They knew it wasn't a Silver
Gull (which someone has rung in and said don't call them seagulls) but the
suggestions were:
Plover Glossy Juvenile Ibis and finally Juvenile Straw-necked Ibis.I didn't get to see it on the TV, but it sounds like they might have got it right. Cheers, Peter From: "Dickson" <> To: <> Subject: Re: [BIRDING-AUS] Sporting birds Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2005 10:10:04 +1000 I remember seeing what was probably a Straw-necked Ibis on the ground while watching cricket on the TV a few weeks ago. It was equally frustrating as Igot only glimpses of it as the ball speed past that area of the field - frommemory I think it was out behind square leg at the time (behind cover when they changed ends).
