Hi Mark
I very much support Chris' recommendation of Barbara Triggs' "Scats,
Tracks...". It includes info. on skulls and other bones and diggings as well
as pictures of tracks and scats.
In Victoria Littlejohn's Frogwatch tape is good for identifying frog calls in
the field.
But at this time of year in particular, take a local/regional indigenous flower
book !!
We are extremely lucky in my area of Melbourne to have two good plants books
which cover wider matters as well: "Indigenous Plants of the Sandbelt: a
gardening guide" and the even lovelier Mornington Peninsula Field Guide to the
Flora Fauna and Walking Tracks.
