For anyone looking for Yellow-tailed black-cockatoos, they are quite active
in the Duffys Forest/Terrey Hills area at the moment. I spent a hour with
them today. We'd had a large backburn take place on Sunday and this morning
the cockatoos were having a great time eating the burnt cones off the trees.
I ended up being surrounded by them which was quite an experience in the
middle of the burnt out bush. I just wish I'd had a tape recorder with me
as the sounds were quite amazing. I later spotted them flying over at
4pm. They often fly over but this was the first time they've stopped so
near the house.
Cheers,
Karen
