A visit to Lake Victoria (Point Lonsdale) yesterday  morning was most
rewarding. Over the past few months bird activity has been fairly quite
in this area, but now with the water receding and small islands
appearing the birds have returned. The list was made up of Terns
(caspian, fairy and little), Eastern Curlew, Great Cormorant in breeding
plumage, Red-necked Stints, Sharp-tailed S/P,Curlew S/P, some showing
good colour, Double-banded Plovers, Red-capped Plovers, Great Egret,
Pelicans, Black-winged Stilts, Chestut Teal, Australian Shelduck, Common
Greenshank, rafts of Hoary Headed Grebe and Swans. A walk is involved,
maybe 20mins or so, but well worth the effort.   Denise Moore
