    I would be surprised if the Spotted  Bowerbird was a cage escapee.
It would have had to have been captured well west of the coastal country
(illegally) and transported to the S.E. , again illegally,  and
released.  I t could be that a locall zoo had one legally and it
escaped, but I would guess that the birds aberrant  occurrence was of
its own free will.
    I would suggest that the local Galah population in S.E. Qld. was of
cage escapees initially and has increased with habitat change brought on
in the Galahs favour by rotatry slashing/mowing of waste land, road
verges and playing fields. But this is all speculation.
         I remember seeing 15 Galahs perched on the power lines here at
Point Lookout, with a backdrop of Pacific Ocean, really a bird out of
place.
