BIRDER NEEDS HELP!
I am an English birder who will be visiting the Darwin and Brisbane areas in
November and December 1998.
Any information on good current birding sites and sought after species would
be much appreciated, however I am particularly interested in the following:-
BRISBANE AREA
Spotted Quail-thrush Is Bellbird Grove the best current site? Specific
directions
Greater Sooty Owl Is Mount Glorious still good for this species.
Specific
directions
Marbled Frogmouth Ditto
DARWIN AREA
Chestnut Rail Is Middle Arms still the best site?
Specific
directions
Beach Thick-knee Is East Point the best current
site? Specific
directions
Rainbow Pitta Ditto
Black-banded Fruit Dove Is Waterfall Creek, Kakadu the best
current
site? Specific directions
White-throated Grasswren Ditto
Chestnut-quilled Rock-Pigeon Ditto
Hooded Parrot Have I got any chance of seeing
this species in
the first week of December?
If so are the
waterholes north of Katherine the
best, and what are the specific
directions?
Gouldian Finch Ditto
Thank you in anticipation for your time and interest.
