Regarding aggregations of Yellow Chat, a quick search of my notebooks
and literature revealed the following highest numbers counted at sites
in WA and NT up to about 1995:
- Roebuck Plains, WA: 100+ in Jun 79.
- Camballin Floodplain (Fitzroy R), WA: 40 in Nov 86.
- Lake Argyle, WA: 114 in Aug 86.
- Parry Floodplain (lower Ord R), WA: 85+ in May 88.
- Osmans Lake (E of Keep R estuary), NT: 71 in Sep 93.
- Lake Woods (Barkly Tableland), NT: 100+ in Jul 82.
- Lake Sylvester (Barkly Tableland), NT: 50+ in Mar 85.
Few if any of these data resulted from systematic efforts to count all
birds present. Some refer to flocks, others to totals over many
hectares. Larger totals probably would be realised if adding numbers
from separate sites within a wetland system, e.g. the Barkly lakes.
