This intrigues me. The ABC rescreened an old series about Elisabeth I
starring Glenda Jackson recently (the name of it escapes me at the
moment).
There was at least one scene during the period when she was at the
height of her power, and undergoing certain queenly dramas, in her
palace, where the lavish set included a large birdcage in which were
several of these our aussie cockatoos.
I put it down to the same culture that put kookaburras in the African
Jungle Jim movies. But maybe not? Any thoughts?
