  • Exam Location

    The in-person exam will be held at Brass, Sitar and Kora labs on level 3 of the Ainsworth building (map ref J17).

  • Contest 3 editorial and practice session

    You can now access the problems, editorial and practice session for Contest 3 on the contests page of the course website.

  • Exam Preparation

    The final exam is next Thursday, 7th December, from 11am to 4pm. If you are attending in person, please follow these instructions before attending.

  • Practice Final Exam

    The 2022 final exam has been available on DOMjudge since last week’s revision session. The 2021 final exam will also become available as of 8am today.

  • Revision Session

    We will be holding a revision session this Thursday (23rd November), where you can attempt a past final exam, with tutors present to assist you as they would during a lab. It will be held from 11:30 to 16:30 at Mathews 228; please bring your own device as this is a CATS room not a computer lab.

  • Contest Marks Adjustment

    The problems in Contest 2 and 3 have turned out to be a bit harder than we hoped, so the marks allocation will be a bit more generous.

  • Contest 3 Embargo

    Some students will do contest 3 towards the end of the week. An editorial will be released on the weekend; please do not discuss the problems publicly before then.

    The myExperience survey is our primary means to receive student feedback and improve the course for future offerings. We’d particularly like to hear your thoughts on the new tutorial format introduced this term.

  • Exam Timetable

    The final exam is scheduled for Thursday 7th December, from 11am to 4pm at CSE labs. If you are unable to attend in person, please complete this form to arrange an alternative mode to sit the exam.

  • Contest 3 Announcement

    Contest 3 will take place on Sunday 19th and Monday 20th November. Note that this is at the end of week 10, rather than week 9 as was earlier advertised.

  • Flexibility week

    Today’s revision lecture will be held on Zoom from 2pm to 4pm, and the recording will be uploaded to Echo360.

  • IEEExtreme Registration Extended

    The registration deadline for IEEExtreme has been extended to 23rd October.

  • IEEExtreme

    IEEExtreme is a 24-hour contest, running from 11am on Saturday 28th October to 11am on Sunday 29th October. Teams of three from all over the world compete to solve programming problems (including ICPC-style tasks) as they are released every hour. You may find this archive of past tasks helpful.

  • Flexibility Week

    There will be no in-person lectures in week 6. There will be a revision lecture on Tuesday 2-4pm, held online, link TBA.

  • Contest 2 Announcement

    Contest 2 will take place on Sunday 15th October. The contest duration is three hours. Book a timeslot using this form.

  • Contest 1 Practice Session

    Thanks to Angus for setting up a practice session on vjudge. No course marks will be awarded for solves during the practice session.

  • ICPC Regional Finals

    The South Pacific ICPC Regional Finals will be held on 1st October 2023. 2 bonus marks will be provided for participation in the unofficial mirror contest: to attend the UNSW live site please sign up here for catering purposes.

  • Contest 1 embargo

    Contest 1 began three hours late. It will now run from 03:00 on Saturday 16th September to 03:00 on Monday 18th September. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

  • DOMjudge open for registration

    The DOMjudge server for our contests and final exam is now open for registration.

  • ICPC Preliminary Contest

    2 bonus marks will be provided for participation in the South Pacific ICPC Preliminary Contest on 3rd September 2023. You can sign up here until 28th August. These bonus marks can alternatively be earned by volunteering to help run the Preliminary Contest or Regional Finals (31st 30th September and 1st October 2023). Volunteers’ duties include setting up, marking attendance and distributing balloons. Please email me if you are interested in volunteering, as we still need several more volunteers to conduct a successful contest.
