Tutorial
Get to know your class
The main aim of this week’s tutorial is to get to know the other students in your tutorial as well as your tutor.
Your tutor may arrange to play an ice-breaker game to get you all to know each other.
You should complete get to know your class.
Solving problems
You should discuss with your class how you think about and solve problems.
You should complete peanut butter sandwich.
Questions and answers
Your students will have a lot of questions about:
- Logging into CSE
- Text editors
- CSE lab machines
- Linux
- C
Selecting pairs
Make sure students select their partner before heading over to the lab. Try and get them into pairs with someone of the same level to begin with.
Making faces
You’ll probably want to cover a basic demonstration of writing C code. Start off by discussing the hello world program covered in lectures.
We recommend covering the making faces activity during the tutorial or as a demonstration at the start of the lab.
During the lab
Any activities not completed during the tutorial should be completed during the lab by the students in pairs. Labs will be completed in pairs with one person logged in. Get them to alternate who types for each activity. Only one student needs to submit this week, but from week 2 on-wards, both students in pairs should be submitting all code written each week in pairs.
