Mojtaba was jointly supervised with Prof. Travis Waller in Civil Engineering. Mojtaba’s thesis was on optimisation and machine learning techniqies for scheduling in the building industry. He acquired a database of dispatcher actions for assigned concrete delivery trucks to construction sites. From that, he used behavioural cloning to build an automated dispatcher. The results compared well with optimisation methods and had the advantage that it scaled well for problems that were intractable for standard optimisation methods.
