Web and SOA Courses on offer at CSE

COMP9321 (Web Applications Engineering)

This course is offered at postgraduate students as well as 3rd or final year students as an elective. The course aims to introduce the core concepts and practical skills needed for building Web-based applications. The course focuses on a range of topics that form the so-called Web Container part of the J2EE standards. The breadth of the technologies which enable the Web we see today grows and evolves rapidly. The students are particularly noted that the aim of this course is not to introduce the latest packages or products available on the market. What is more important is, through an understanding of the basics of Web technologies, the students will appreciate the necessity for tracking technology development and become an efficient self-learner and insightful predictor of future developments in this area.

COMP9322 (Service Oriented Architectures)

This course is offered at postgraduate students as well as 3rd or final year students as an elective. The course aims to consolidate what the students have learned in the earlier course (COMP9321) and to extend the knowledge to more complex issues such as enterprise application integration (EAI). In particular, this course introduces Web services and Service Oriented Architecture as an emerging solution to EAI.

COMP9323 (e-Enterprise Project)

This course is offered at postgraduate students as well as 3rd or final year students who have completed COMP9321 and COMP9322. The course is entirely project-based and the students are free to choose their own topic to work on.
